Lost causes

Unfortunately, in the frenzy of getting ready to move to Vermont I was planning on selling off a gang of dvd’s, as I had more than my dvd’s shelves could carry… And lots that I had no plans on seeing. I was just going to sell them to Everyday Music, where I didn’t think I’d get much for them. After all, most were either foreign region or just plain old boring dvd’s… (Though some few were worth farming out to a better seller, but I just didn’t feel like I wanted to spend the time). Then, I heard from Lloyd. He is an acquaintance of mine, via the faltering DVD rentals/sales business that he owns where I had been a regular for 3 years. He no longer has a street level storefront, now he is working out of a little office upstairs where he is in the process of liquidating his stock. Anyway, he offered to take them off my hands by proposing a consignment of sorts where he would sell them on Amazon and eBay and he would get me more money than anyone else would. I’ve always liked the guy, so I dropped them off and left town.

As the weeks went on, I was a bit apprehensive about leaving those behind, so I watched his online stores and my little DVD’s. Some sold okay and I heard from him occasionally. Then I stopped hearing. To make a long story not as long as it could be, I ended up with fewer DVD’s to move across the country and this fellow back in Portland ended up with a mess of my DVD’s for free (and, in fact, at least a few hundred dollars in sales)… Attempts to contact him have failed for months now, and last I heard he told me some story about a potential buyer who had scammed him out of most of his stock with a fake cashier’s check and so now he has lost most of his DVD’s and got no money for them… Of course, he said that he would still make good on what he owed me… But that was months ago and he again is not responding. Obviously, this is kind of embarrassing. And even though I decided to get rid of them, now that they are just gone I especially wish that I wouldn’t have parted with the Something Weird’s and the Criterion’s… I should have just given them all away to friends.

Regardless, for old times sake, here are the movies that I know I lost to him. It is a pretty accurate list. There may be a handful that didn’t go to him, as there may have been some others that did.

I am also including the Sale amount for the ones that he sold that I am aware of:
